'Adhir won't decide, will be axed if...': Kharge on alliance with Mamata
Despite its earlier 'no alcohol' policy, the Delhi Metro has now allowed passengers to carry two sealed bottles of alcohol. The new rule was announced by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in a statement.
"Two sealed bottles of liquor per person are permitted to be carried in Delhi Metro as per Airport Express Line provisions," DMRC said in a statement.
A committee comprising officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and DMRC reviewed the earlier order. As per an earlier regulation, carrying alcohol was banned in the Delhi Metro except on the Airport Express Line.
However, the DMRC reiterated that consumption of alcohol on Delhi Metro premises remains strictly prohibited. The Delhi Metro Authority has warned passengers against unruly behavior and urged them to maintain decorum while travelling.
“Metro passengers are requested to maintain proper decorum while travelling. In the event that a passenger is found to be behaving indecently under the influence of alcohol, appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law."
Since its launch in December 2002, Delhi Metro has maintained a total ban on consumption and carriage of alcohol on all routes except the Airport Express line, where passengers were allowed to carry two sealed bottles of alcohol.
